Ideal for:
- Database
- Virtualization
A quarter-width, two-socket FX architecture server, the Dell PowerEdge FC430 offers the ultimate in shared infrastructure density with the option for smaller, physically discrete servers.
The FC430 offers Choices:
- Two 18-core Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 v4 processors, or a single socket Intel Xeon E5-1600 v3 alternative
- Two 1.8-inch drives or one 1.8-inch drive witha front-access mezzanine port Mellanox® InfiniBand® connection.
All configurations have up to 8 DIMMs of memory and a dual port10Gb LOM for networking. Each FC430 has access to one PCIe 3.0expansion slot.
Implement higher reliability
One of the FC430’s distinguishing features is its quarter-width size.It can run multiple applications as a virtualized environment, or housethe operations of different clients as a dedicated host. Either way, itoffers the benefit of higher reliability through physical separation; oneserver failing does not disrupt the operation of virtual machines orclients running on other servers.
- “switched” configuration supporting up to eight low-profile PCIe 3.0 expansion slots
- : lower-cost “unswitched” configuration that does not offer expansion slots.

- Two 1.8” SATA SSDs
- PCI switch & 1 slot access
- FX2 or FX2s can be used
- Typically used for virtualization or dedicated hosting.
- One or two socket option
- E5-2600 v3 Up to 14 cores
- One 1.8” SATA SSD
- Front access Infiniband mezz card port
- Used for HPC/HFT and other applications requiring lower latency
- Higher frequency processor
LOM network provides four connections per half-width compute sled, two connections per quarter-width compute sled, and eight connections per full-width compute sled for a maximum of 16 lanes. The maximum external connections possible are 16 RJ-45 Ethernet ports.
A quarter-width compute sled configured with NDC is mapped to one port on each I/O module. As seen in the image above.
PowerEdge FX2s has two PCIe switches integrated on thePCIe switchboard to connect the compute sleds to the eight low-profile PCIe expansion slots on the enclosure.
Each half-width and quarter-width compute sled supports one PCIe mezzanine card. Each full-width compute sled supports two PCIe mezzanine cards. These cards sit in the rear of the node server and allow the system to connect to the PCIe switchboard. Based on the configuration, with or without a storage sled. The assigned PCIe slots will change accordingly.
In PowerEdge FX2s enclosure configurations that support storage sleds mapped to compute sleds, the PCIe slots map only tothe compute sleds. When storage sleds are installed in the enclosure, the PCIe slots mapped to these bays are automaticallyreassigned to the compute sleds installed in the upper bays of the enclosure.
